Saruka Park
This park is located next to Saruka Shrine. In spring, about 330 cherry trees blossom around the park’s Kagamigaike and Miharugaike ponds. Together with the fountains in the ponds, they make for a beautiful sight. In summer, lotus flowers thought to be the northernmost in Japan bloom on the surface of Kagamigaike Pond. Visitors can enjoy the scenery of cherry blossoms in spring and colorful leaves in autumn while boating on Miharugaike Pond.
The park’s “model gardens” are six different gardens jointly created by landscapers from the Onoe district, which was once a center of the landscaping industry. Each garden represents a unique style, such as the traditional Japanese style, Western style, and gardens incorporating Western flowers and wild grasses. They serve as models for landscaping techniques and gardening. Admission is free.
Visitors can also enjoy solving puzzles while checking out five spots in Hirakawa City, including Saruka Park (in Japanese only).
