Tsugaru Iwaki Skyline
The Tsugaru Iwaki Skyline was Aomori Prefecture’s first toll road. It runs along the Hirosaki–Ajigasawa Prefectural Route past Dake Onsen, providing access to the 8th station of Mt. Iwaki from the vicinity of the Haguro Onsen area. Construction took over four years from the start of planning, and the road opened on August 25, 1965.
The 9.8-kilometer route features 69 varied curves, offering a driving experience where you can enjoy the changing scenery of the four seasons as the elevation rises.
After taking in the magnificent views of the Tsugaru Plain and the Sea of Japan spreading out below from the 8th station observation deck, you can take a ride up the mountain on the lift.
Take a breather while gazing at the alpine scenery that stretches below. You can enjoy sightseeing and light hiking all in one go.
