CRAZY CIDER Factory Tours
Get a peek at the secrets of how Aomori apple cider and brandy are made.
CRAZY CIDER in Aomori Prefecture’s Hirakawa City manufactures and sells exclusive cider and apple brandy made with pristine water from Shirakami Sanchi, natural World Heritage site, and carefully selected Aomori apples according to a meticulous manufacturing process.
Its flagship cider takes full advantage of the sweet taste of high-quality Aomori apples, featuring a complex aroma with a subtle sweetness. It pairs exceptionally well with meat dishes incorporating locally raised pedigreed Aomori Shamrock chicken or the Tsugaru region’s branded pork “Tsugaru Aijobuta,” earning it recognition among locals.
CRAZY CIDER also offers factory tours of its manufacturing facilities.
The tours are a valuable opportunity to observe key processes in the production of apple cider and brandy, including part of the cider-making process from fermentation to distillation, the process of converting cider into apple brandy, and barrel aging, up close. Depending on the timing of your tour, you may also be able to observe apple juicing and the distillation process.
After the tour, tasting and purchases are offered at the nearby CRAZY DAYS THE BASE. There is no need to worry if you are not much of a drinker, as non-alcoholic beverages are also available.
You can enjoy a soak at the adjoining hot-spring spa Tsugaru Onoe Onsen Fukuya following the tour. Fukuya also offers accommodations, so an itinerary combining a factory tour and overnight stay is also a good option.
Don’t miss this opportunity to experience CRAZY CIDER’s unique cider culture born from Aomori’s natural bounty.
