Aomori Ale (Be Easy Brewing / Gareth’s Hideout)
The taproom Gareth’s Hideout in Hirosaki City is a casual spot to enjoy freshly brewed beer. The craft brewery Be Easy Brewing on the first floor of the building makes original craft beers, while the taproom Gareth’s Hideout on the second floor serves beer along with food.
With twelve taps behind the counter, customers can try various beers starting with the classic Aomori Ale and Debbie’s Pale Ale. The diverse ingredients used to flavor the beers include brown rice from Aomori, Uji matcha tea from Kyoto, brown sugar from Okinawa, fruits from all over the world, honey, herbs, and spices. One of the taproom’s appeals is that different flavors of beer are brewed on a seasonal basis, so customers can try new beers whenever they visit.
Aomori Ale, a microbrew available only in Aomori Prefecture, is light bodied enough that it will go down easily even with craft beer newcomers. Meanwhile, Debbie’s Pale Ale is the number-one fan favorite at Gareth’s Hideout, with a smooth head and a pleasantly bitter taste.
The spicy flavor of the taproom’s homemade sausages stuffed with local Aomori pork, which come in a set of three different kinds, goes perfectly with beer. The beer cans are even printed with recommended pairings so that diners can choose the foods that will complement them best.
