Café Kitano Kuruwa
Try apple pie from famous pastry shops and dressing up in traditional costumes!
If you need a little break while strolling the sprawling grounds of Hirosaki Park, how about stopping at Café Kitano Kuruwa located inside Butokuden Rest House in the park?
Café Kitano Kuruwa has an extensive menu of sweets and beverages that serve as excellent pick-me-ups. It also offers light meals like soba and udon noodles, making it a popular rest spot for tourists visiting Hirosaki Park.
The apple pie tasting set is particularly recommended. It comes with two different slices of apple pie, each from a famous pastry shop in Hirosaki City, along with a drink. Apple pie lavishly made with Aomori apples is the perfect snack to refresh you after a stroll of the park. Also be sure to check out the attached souvenir shop.
The “Japanese Feudal Lord/Princess Dress-up Experience,” in which you can try on a feudal lord’s armor or a princess’s kimono and take photos, is also available year round at Butokuden Rest House. Visitors can choose from a variety of traditional costumes, including the fierce-looking armor worn by Japanese feudal lords and the gorgeous, layered kimonos called uchikake that were the formal wear of ladies of the samurai class. By trying on these traditional costumes, visitors of all nationalities can enjoy transforming into a Japanese samurai or princess. You can take as many photos as you want, so it’s the perfect way to make memories on your trip.
