Shoko’s Tulip Garden
A field of gorgeous tulips swaying in the breeze
Even in Japan’s northern region of Aomori, the spring sun brings milder weather by late April. At Shoko’s Tulip Garden in Gonohe Town, you can enjoy a tulip field on a scale not often found in Japan.
Shoko’s Tulip Garden is a tulip garden that was started by Gonohe Town resident Shoko Toriyabe. It is planted with over 100,000 tulips of about 300 different varieties and open for a limited time only during their blooming season so that members of the public can also appreciate them.
In the garden, the tulips are planted along the ridges of the sloped field with neat separations by color and variety. This means that every step you take, you can see different shades of tulips overlap. Whether you are looking up from the bottom of the field or down from a height, you can take in views of colorful tulips brimming with life from every angle.
Potted plants, seedlings, and cut flowers from the tulips that grow in the garden are also sold, so you can even purchase them to take home.
