Canola-Blossom Fields at the Foot of Mount Iwaki
Come and enjoy fields of bright yellow canola blossoms
At the base of the majestic Mount Iwaki, fields of beautiful, brightly colored canola blossoms stretch as far as the eye can see. The carpet of yellow created by countless canola blossoms is spectacular, and this sight of spring draws many visitors to the Tateishi district of Ajigasawa Town every year.
Listed as one of the 100 Famous Mountains of Japan, Mount Iwaki is also nicknamed “Tsugaru Fuji” due to its resemblance to Mount Fuji when snow remains on its summit. The beauty of the lingering snow on Mount Iwaki in combination with the endless expanses of bright yellow canola blossoms is a stunning sight that can only be viewed at this time of the year.
The canola-blossom fields are planted in different locations every year to prevent damage from continuous cropping of potatoes and beans, so visitors can enjoy different scenery each year.
Come and see the magnificence of Mount Iwaki juxtaposed with the beauty of canola blossoms.
