Located on the fourteenth floor of the landmark ASPAM building in Aomori City’s bay area, “The Sea & The Light” (Umi-to Hikari) is an elegant bar that charms visitors to Aomori.

The bar is bathed in soft lighting with a relaxed ambience, its circular shape offering a beautiful 360-degree night view of Aomori City.

The interior features various decorations incorporating techniques used in Nebuta floats so that patrons can experience the appeal of the Aomori Nebuta Festival, including domed seating crafted by artisans who work on the floats.

You can enjoy a special evening with this unique combination of contemporary design, an amazing view, and Aomori’s traditional culture.

The bar also has a very unique system. Called “Buy a Drink for a Local,” it allows travelers to treat local patrons to a drink. If you press the “Buy a Drink for a Local” button found on the touch panel on your table, a patron chosen by the bartender will receive one drink. The rule is that the two of you must then share a toast. Afterwards, you are free to drink together or simply part ways after some brief conversation.
