Amazing AOMORI

The Aomori "Mahoroba" History Museum is an exhibition facility that provides a comprehensive overview of the history and folk culture of the region centered around Aomori City.

The museum features permanent exhibitions of the "Collection of *Mudamahagi*-style Fishing Boats from the Tsugaru Strait and Surrounding Areas"—designated as a National Important Tangible Folk Cultural Property—and "Embroidered Clothing of Aomori" (including *Tsugaru Kogin-zashi*, *Nanbu Hishi-zashi*, *Saki-ori*, and *Tsuzure-zashi*), which is designated as a Tangible Folk Cultural Property by Aomori Prefecture.

Additionally, the observation deck offers a panoramic view that encompasses Aomori City, Mutsu Bay, the Tsugaru Peninsula, and the Shimokita Peninsula.

* "Mahoroba" is an archaic term meaning "a beautiful and pleasant place to live"; the author Ryotaro Shiba referred to Aomori City and its surrounding area as the "Mahoroba of the North."
