Towada Lake Festival
A beloved summer tradition on Lake Towada
This festival is a beloved annual tradition on Lake Towada and also marks the start of the summer tourism season for the northern Tohoku region. Balloon lanterns inscribed with people’s wishes and message fireworks* create magical nighttime scenery. Other highlights include night cruises offering views of the lanterns and fireworks from the lake, as well as performances of music, dances, and traditional local entertainment by local volunteers. The finale on each day is a display of ground effect fireworks set to music.
