Painting Workshops for Goldfish Neputa and More

金魚ねぷた等絵付け体験

Goldfish Neputa Painting Workshop

Create your own Goldfish Neputa, a folk craft modeled after a unique local species of goldfish called “Tsugaru Nishiki”! Draw a face, scales, etc. in ink and wax on an already papered Goldfish Neputa and then paint it to complete it! Like Neputa festival floats, Goldfish Neputa were originally made using bamboo but are mainly made using wire nowadays. They are widely popular as a folk craft of the Tsugaru region.

*Recommended for ages 7 and up

Tsugaru Kite Painting Workshop

Paint a Tsugaru kite by drawing directly in ink on washi paper placed over a design, drawing the hair, and then adding color using dye! Display it in your room to enjoy the spirit of Aomori and traditional Japanese aesthetics in your daily life.

*There is also a workshop in which you can make an actual kite by attaching the picture to a frame.

Fan-Shaped Neputa Wall Decoration Painting Workshop

Create a fan-shaped Neputa wall decoration by drawing a Neputa image in ink and wax on fan-shaped washi paper that already has a design sketched on it and then adding color. Once you attach a string and a wooden tag, your wall decoration is finished! Display it in your room to feel the spirit of Aomori every day.

*The facility’s craftmaking workshop room has a capacity of about 60 to 100 people. (Please consult the facility for numbers larger than that. A separate venue fee will be charged.)
