Keika Brewing
A craft-beer brewery born in the hot-spring town of Asamushi Onsen
Keika Brewing is a craft-beer brewery located in Asamushi Onsen, the closest hot-spring town to the Aomori city center, where you can enjoy a variety of exclusive beers.
There are said to be over 100 kinds of beer globally, made from a wide range of ingredients. The recipes for brewing are countless, and unique beers exist all over the world.
Keika Brewing is one brewery that works hard on a daily basis in the pursuit of unique local flavors that you won’t find in a mass-produced beer.
The brewery offers several brands of unfiltered, unpasteurized craft beer starting with its flagship brand, “Keika.” Keika is a pale ale with refreshing fruity notes like citrus and melon, making it a good choice for those who are new to craft beer. Meanwhile, the light ale “Zankou” is the perfect drink after soaking in a hot-spring bath. With notes of white wine and the aroma of passion fruit, it also pairs wonderfully with Japanese cuisine. “Senrin” is Keika Brewing’s classic dry IPA with a full body, sharp bitterness, and citrusy aroma that come together to produce a multilayered hoppiness.
No matter which beer you order, each glass is served carefully poured from the keg through the tap.
The building that houses both the brewery and bar counter was originally a bank that has been renovated with a relaxed interior. Staff and patrons engage in lively conversation in the casual space. Although many customers come to enjoy a glass of beer after a dip in a hot-spring bath, some even visit from various parts of Japan just for the brewery’s beer, a testament to Keika Brewing’s strong appeal to beer lovers.
How about breaking up your trip with some delicious, exclusive local craft beer? It’s waiting for you in the hot-spring town of Asamushi Onsen, only about twenty minutes by train from Aomori Station.
